In August 2003 Lyn Kirton, Des Wesley and Elaine Power began planning and conceptualising idea’s to support a shared vision to establish a premier supported employment programme designed specifically to work with any person who faced a barrier to gaining meaningful and paid employment

 
   
 

On the 19 November 2003 Vision Employment Support Services was incorporated as a “Charitable Trust” for the specific purpose of providing a seamless supported employment service that will make a difference to the lives of our customers and for the benefit of our community.

In July 2004, Vision commenced a “Supported Employment Contract” with the Ministry of Social Development to place 32 disabled job seekers into paid employment and to provide ongoing supports in and out of the workplace to ensure each position was sustainable. Our contract with the MSD has been renewed with increases in capacity to supporting 50 clients per annum.

In 2008, we have entered into another contract with the Ministry to provide a Transition services to ORRS funded (Ongoing Reviewable Resourcing Scheme) students in their last year at school to help them to move from school into the community and to work.

Vision are currently negotiating with the Accident Compensation Corporation to provide a supported employment service to assist clients disabled through injury to rehabilitate back into the work place.
